Nicholas C. Niggli is an experienced leader in international, national, and regional governance. As Deputy Secretary General of the Republic and State of Geneva, he drove innovation and fostered public-private collaboration. He played a pivotal role in establishing Geneva as a global hub for sustainable finance by negotiating the arrival of the Global Network of Financial Centres for Sustainability in 2018, which triggered the Building Bridges initiative. Nicholas also advocated for the Cyber Peace Institute and co-created the Trust Valley initiative to enhance digital trust globally. He has been a guest lecturer on international trade and governance at top institutions and is a Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Previously, he led Switzerland’s interests in the UK as Head of the Economic, Finance, Science & Innovation Section and held key positions at the WTO, including Deputy Head of the WTO Division. Nicholas chaired the $1.8 trillion WTO Government Procurement Agreement and was recognized as a key contributor to WTO history in 2015. He is passionate about leadership, lifelong learning, and various physical and mental performance activities.
